Painted Poppies Coming Soon!

When I saw this bundle in the upcoming Mini Catalog that goes live on January 3, 2020, I instantly fell in love.  Poppies are one of my favorite flowers and although I have yet to be successful in growing them from seed longer than a season, I just adore their tender petals and beautiful colors!  I like that Stampin’ Up! has showcased this bundle in a color combination that includes Poppy Parade red.  This is also one of my favorites!  Red is my favorite color, and this is a favorite shade!

I designed this card during the Christmas season and gold was on my festive mind, so I cut my embellishment from our Gold Foil Sheets and added a “pop” of bling with the new Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels (also coming soon in the new mini).
When you see the new catalog, you will be amazed.  I know the creators at Stampin’ Up! have been having a blast designing the projects you will see throughout this publication and I know you’ll have just as much fun, if not more, getting your hands on these products.
Also, Stampin’ Up! has done something super amazing with this catalog.  When you get your copy in hand, or when you see it online, check out the index in the back!  I absolutely love the layout of this reference tool and I can’t imagine that this won’t be a continuous offering.  SUPER EXCITED!

A Cardinal for My Friend

When the Holiday Catalog came out I immediately knew I "needed" the Toile Christmas Stamp Set.  Anytime I have the opportunity to get a stamp set with a cardinal I'm all over it!  What about you?  Do you love these birds as much as me?  They're so majestic and their color is just stunning.  Obviously I'll be making Christmas cards with this beauty, but for now I've created a birthday card for my friend Margaret.  She, too, loves cardinals so I'm thinking she'll get a kick out of this card.
I thought about using some white card stock, but it just seemed sub par.  I wanted this bird to pop off the card and I think I got a win with the Daffodil Delight framed with the Poppy Parade card stock.  I stamped my sentiment from Here's a Card in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then hand drew his feet and one of the branches so I could actually have him standing on his perch and I cut the other branch using the Seasonal Layers and the Black Foil Sheet to give a layer of dimension.  I used the Subtle 3D embossing folder with the top layer of Daffodil Delight and then cut it out using the Stitched Rectangle Die.  To color my cardinal I used the Poppy Parade (Light and Dark) Stampin' Blends, as well as the Daffodil Delight Blends.  I came back in with the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to accent his eye and bring out some of his facial features.  I ended up hand-cutting him instead of using the die as I wanted more definition at his edges.
Thanks for stopping by and hopefully I've inspired you to create your own cardinal card.  Have a great day😊

Simple Christmas Card in Red and White

This is such a simple, generic card and yet it's elegant at the same time.  So many times when we're creating we like to add as many layers, baubles, and textures as we can conjure up.  I've found, though, with this Detailed Deer, there's not much more needed to recognize the splendor of this design.  I purposely chose to avoid too much texture because I wanted the authenticity of the Christmas season to stand out.  The font of the Word Wishes die, Merry Christmas, captures that sentiment, as well.
As you are planning your holiday cards, remember they don't need to be complex and time consuming.  Keep it simple sometimes.

Happy Stamping,
Tammie

What to do with Bird Ballad Cards?

I ordered the Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards & Tin way back during our demonstrator preorder in May of this year.  What's a demonstrator preorder(?), you ask.  Well, simply, it's a benefit you receive when you sign up for your Creativity Kit through Stampin' Up!  Once you're a demonstrator you get to order new products a month before they go live to customers.  It's a really cool opportunity to get to play with lots of really neat stuff and share with other demonstrators your ideas as well as get new ideas. Interested?

Just head to my website by clicking on the catalog to your left.  Click 'Join' and then start assembling your kit.  You choose everything you want and nothing you don't want.  And guess what!  There's no obligation, although once you get your kit and see the world of creativity it opens up for you, you may just want to start exploring.  That's what I did 14 years ago.  It's been a journey that has changed me forever.  I've learned so much, found my inner creative self I never knew existed and met so many wonderful people along the way.  So check it out, explore what you could have in your own personalized kit today.

But back to where I began...I bought this tin of cards and envelopes almost six months ago, and I sat down the other day to accept the challenge of "what do I make with these cards?".  This is what I came up with and it was uber simple!  I adhered a piece of Garden Green card stock to the back of the laser-cut front using Tombow Multipurpose Glue and a sponge.  I grabbed my Dandelion Wishes stamp set and in keeping with my green theme I stamped the large 3 dandelion stamp in Garden Green Classic Ink onto a piece of Very Vanilla Thick Card Stock and ran my piece through the Big Shot using the largest Stitched Shapes Circle Die.  I layered my stamped image onto a piece of Copper Foil cut with the largest Layering Circles Scallop Die.  I popped this up using dimensionals and then added the (oh so pretty) Toile Tidings Enamel Dots (Garden Green, of course) to the centers of my dandelions. These dots have shiny, sparkly glitter inside and they're beautiful!

On the inside of my card I cut another circle using the Stitched Shapes Circle Framelits and stamped my message in our new Copper Delicata Ink.  I layered that onto a piece of Garden Green Cardstock cut out with the Layering Circles Scallop Framelits and glued my message to my card with Snail Adhesive.  Then I used the little seed wisps as accents, stamped in Copper Ink.

Wala, finished!  Easy peasy and so fun!  You should get your own tin (includes 12 cards with coordinating envelopes) and start creating today 😉

Hammered Metal Another Way...for Thanksgiving

With the holidays upon us I'm continuing to design my cards and I want to stress my need to be different, to see things in a different way than "conventional".  Don't get me wrong, I love when things are familiar.  Familiar is comfortable.  But sometimes I just want to push the envelope.  I want to step outside of my comfort zone and try to see things from another perspective.  Hence, my card below.  The colors are really, anything but Fall.  But they're festive and this is what Thanksgiving is to me.  It's a time for my family to gather (which is a rare occasion to get everyone together on one day in one place) and celebrate all that we have.  It's a time for remembrance, reflection, and it's a time to be grateful.  So with that, Happy Thanksgiving to all!  I hope this inspires you to create differently and to celebrate that difference.

This card is made with Night of Navy cardstock for the base and layered with an embossed Hammered Metal piece.  I used the Banner Triple Punch for my DSP (Brightly Gleaming) and Foil (Copper) tags and for my Happy Thanksgiving sentiment (Copper Foil) I used my new favorite die set, Word Wishes.  Do you have this set yet?  It coordinates with A Wish for Everything stamp set and it is a must have in my library of die tools.  I adhered everything with Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive.
Drop me a note to let me know what you think and even better, a picture of something you made that was inspired by my card

Z-Fold Card Easy to Customize

How many of you are loving our new In Colors for 2019?  My faves are Pretty Peacock and Seaside Spray.  I believe Purple Posy will be joining those two once I have an opportunity to sit down and use it.  Long story short I was able to get my hands on it a few days ago as it's been a color that originally had quality issues so Stampin' Up! put a hold on this particular In Color ink until it met our high standards of quality.  Now we're good to go and I'm guessing there'll be no stopping the imagination.  This color is very reminiscent of Almost Amethyst that left us a few years ago and
broke many hearts when it did.  I'll post my Purple Posy projects accordingly.  Anyway, my first card you see is using the beautiful Pretty Peacock and is accompanied by Early Espresso.  The stamp sets I chose to use are Free As a Bird and Here's to Strong Women.  I've customized each of these for my beautiful daughters with regard to color, and impression.  I love this part of stamping THE MOST!  I always am in control of being able to put a piece of my recipient into their card and I feel it makes this craft so special and unlike any other.

This card is made with our ever popular Pool Party and the coordinating Bermuda Bay card stocks.  I've embossed the large butterfly with our Hammered Metal embossing folder, which is available in our Holiday Catalog.  I did use a retired piece of Glimmer Paper from a past SaleABration and I love it!  I love having so many options to add to my projects!
This last card was made using my favorite "exciting" Gorgeous Grape and the coordinating Highland Heather.  The dancing lady is from Beautiful You.  I colored my bling with the Dark Highland Heather Stampin' Blend and colored sparkle onto my lady with Wink of Stella.  The white strips along the top and the bottom is Sparkle Glimmer Paper.

If you would like details with regard to measurements and instructions for assembling this Z-Fold card contact me through this post.  I appreciate your visiting my blog and look forward to seeing you again!  HAVE A GREAT DAY :)

Unconventional Dashing Deer

If you’re like me, you see ideas in our catalogs, on Pinterest, and on any number of other social media sites.  Sometimes I CASE projects so I have a nearly identical rendition of what I’ve found. Most of the time I want to make my projects “my own”. And then something else takes over and what I saw in my mind’s eye is nowhere close to what I end up making. Years ago I would become upset and throw my hands up and toss my “failure”.
Then I had my aha moment. Instead of getting rid of my seemingly unsuccessful project I would take a deep breath and walk away.  After a few minutes, a few hours or days later I would return to my project and to my surprise, it wasn’t that bad. In fact, usually it was really good. I realized that just because my mind’s eye and my project didn’t match up I just needed to change my vision and, wa-la, creativity continued and I’ve had so much joy making things I never thought I was capable of.
These cards are an example of all of what I just said. The deer above was my initial attempt at at my vision using the Dashing Deer Stamp Set.  As you guessed it, things ended up evolving and as it turns out, apparently there was so much in my mind that I was able to make not just one, but three cards.  Score!  I love the Dashing Deer stamps and their coordinating framelits and I had a lot of fun working with these non traditional Christmas colors, Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green.
If you're interested in any or all of my cards and would like more information regarding the supplies I used I would be happy to have a conversation with you.  You can comment below or you can email me at periopnurse.trun@gmail.com

Delightful Birthday, Happy Halloween and Thanksgiving at our Club Party Last Night

I've been in the Christmas cardmaking mood of late, but when I was considering my projects for our monthly club I really didn't want to do Christmas just yet.  After all, it's still SUMMER!  These are the projects I came up with and with full disclosure, the little pumpkins are my take from an amazing demonstrator, #RachelTessman.  I love her ability to think outside the box.  Thank you, Rachel!

In keeping with the thought of "it's still summer",  I wanted to choose a color that really represents bright, exciting and happy.  I think Gorgeous Grape fits that bill.  I also wanted to do several layers, while keeping this project simple, so the Scalloped Tag Topper and the Banner Triple Punches worked perfectly.  Initially I thought I would keep a monotone color theme, but I wanted just a little more visual texture so I added the new 'In Color' DSP Purple Posy and the Sparkle Glimmer Paper.

In accordance with visual texture/interest I used the Tulle Ribbon and the White Bakers Twine.  As I considered the coloring with the tag ribbon ties I decided white on white was a bit boring, so I used my Gorgeous Grape Ink Refill mixed with a little water in a bowl and dyed my twine purple.  YES!  Much better!
Then using the Butterfly Duet Punch I punched the three small butterflies and applied each of them with half of a mini dimensional to pop them up.
The stamp set, Delightful Day, is from the Annual Catalog.

Transitioning from my summer project and to move my ladies from one season to the next, I decided to move into Fall with these next projects...

These two pumpkins are so fun to make using the new Mini Curvy Keepsake box dies and as I mentioned previously I got my idea from Rachel Tessman.  Her pumpkins are a bit different, but her idea of the leaf, the tendril and the texture using the Subtles Embossing Folder are completely hers.  With my pumpkins I added the Rhinestones that I colored using the Old Olive Dark Stampin' Blend and the stamps, as well as the die "Happy" are from the 'A Wish for Everything' Bundle.  I am absolutely in love with this bundle.  The dies are the perfect size for every project and there is a die for pretty much every occasion!  I love the fonts of the dies, too.

I cut "Happy" from our new Black Foil in the Holiday Catalog and then stamped "Happy Thanksgiving" and "Halloween" using our Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

I really enjoy sharing my projects with you and would love to hear your thoughts about my creations.

When It's Personal...Custom Cards

My mother's sister passed away this last week and in preparation for her funeral and showing our support for her family I was asked to  make a card.  I'm very grateful I have this craft because in the past, before I began making my own cards, it was just very difficult to find a card that was "just right".

Being able to pick out the images and the messages helps to make something so personal mean so much more.  How do you feel about this?

Another thing I love having is the ability to make custom envelopes.   I'm sad this designer series paper is no longer available, but I'm very happy I still had this piece.  Highlighting the butterflies with a little Balmy Blue Ink and a Sponge Dauber to match my card brings the pieces together.

#Snowman

Who is a fan of the "snowman"? Cool! Then check this guy out!
I just love the Snowman Season Stamp Set and the coordinating punch! The embellishments kit that is in this suite is so cool! I did not come up with this idea, I must confess. I CASED it from a fabulous demonstrator I met this past weekend.  Her name is #TerriGaines and she is fabulous!  I did, however, put my own spin on him and he just makes me smile.  I'd love to hear what you think and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.
The colors I used for this card are Very Vanilla, Shaded Spruce and Seaside Spray.  His eyes, nose, arms and buttons are acrylic stickers from the snowman embellishment kit.
I'm in love with our Holiday Catalog that goes live in September and I know you will be, too!  Enjoy choosing your favorite things and have fun making your holiday projects.

Do Something Creative Every Day

I REALLY LOVE 'Love You to Pieces'!  I had seen it when the 2018-2019 catalog first came out, but kept putting off buying it, because I had to work out how I would use it for more than just a couples card, or even a best friend card.  Here's what I've come up with.  I call it my "interactive card" because my recipient can actually put the puzzle, with the secret message stamped on it, together.  Check out what I did below.
Here's the puzzle I stamped and then colored, nestled in the envelope on the front of my card.  I initially put a frame on the piece with a "how to" message on the inside piece of Bermuda Bay, but as I went through the assembly of the card it became clear that it would be easier for my recipient to have a piece that was embossed with the puzzle to get the puzzle to "stay put" while they put it together.  So, the process to do that was to layer the Whisper White Thick Card Stock on top of the Bermuda Bay Card Stock and send them together through the Big Shot.  The top piece acted like an embossing shim.  Perfect!

Then using the Stamparatus I arranged my stamps so I could get them exactly where I needed them for my 3 3/4" square piece of card stock for my puzzle.
Hind site being 20/20 I would have written my "how to" instruction message and then embossed the piece as described above
Here's my puzzle assembled with my message to my friend.  I'd love to hear what you think and to see your version of this card using the Love You to Pieces Bundle that's available through June 3 (bundling saves you 10%).  On June 4, the stamp and the thinlits will still be available, although no longer as a bundle.
If you have any questions about what I used to make my card, don't hesitate to contact me through the comments.  I'm happy to help.

Fable Friends

Good Wednesday afternoon!  I'm not sure what your weather is like where you are, but today, here in St. Louis, it's a rainy, lazy, "I need a nap" kind of day.  I choose, however, to avoid that  temptation to share this card with you 'cause I just really love the little bunny, among other stamps, from this set
(Fable Friends) in our Occasions Catalog.  I also love the soon to retire Gingham gala DSP from this same catalog.  I felt like these two things went hand in hand for my Easter card.  What do you think?
Cutting everything out using the new Rectangle Framelits, also in the Occasions Catalog, kind of brings to my mind a gingham table cloth that I associate with Spring and Easter family gatherings.  I DID fussy cut the cute little bunny, though.  I ran my Very Vanilla background piece through my Big Shot (the big shot is retiring, too, so get one while you can...) using the Basket Weave embossing folder and I love it!  I feel like it ties everything together.  Let me know what you think and be sure to head over to my My Website to order all those things on your Wishlist before they're gone.

Have a great day!

Fable Friends

Good morning and welcome back to my blog.  So happy you could join me today.
I want to touch briefly on a subject that's both wonderful and at the same time sad.  It is ALMOST that time of the year where we bid old friends farewell and welcome new ones.  It's just the way it is. And although I excitedly welcome the change it will be sad to see my favorites go.  One of those favorites is an adorable stamp set in our Occasions Catalog dubbed Fable Friends.  It is SOOO adorable and will be finding it's way into many of my projects, even if it doesn't make the cut into the upcoming Annual Catalog, WHICH GOES LIVE ON JUNE 4TH!

Here is my most recent project I've made using the cute squirrel from that set
How cute is this little guy?!  I absolutely love being able to customize my images based on what I feel the recipient of my cards likes.  Outside of that, just customizing in general because I can, for whatever the reason.  I am so hoping that the yellow in the daisy and the "happy birthday" gets to stick around long after the 2018-2020 In Colors retire.  It is a true, bright and cheery yellow that just rings "happy".  It's aptly called Pineapple Punch and I just love it.  Along with my love of this yellow I am equally in love with the Country Floral embossing folder.  This tool was a freebie during SaleABration and unless I was dreaming it, we will see it again in the new catalog.  I hope I wasn't dreaming!  Everyone NEEDS this folder!  And...in case you are not aware, the framelits I used for my sentiment come in the Well Said Bundle.  It is to die for, no pun intended!  This is a bundle that works for pretty much every occasion you can come up with and it, too, will be in my "go to" stash for a very long time!
I hope you've enjoyed my project today and I'll see you back next time.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.  Thanks!

Window Sheet Tent Card

Every month my upline and her team hold our monthly meetings, of which I am usually unable to attend, due to distance between us.  However, Meg Loven makes a video and shares it with all of her team and I just love still being a part of the group this way.  Being there is definitely "The Bomb", but this is as close to a second that I could possibly get!

Mary Ellen showed us how to make a Window Sheet Tent Card and I decided to venture out and create one of my own.  This is what I came up with...
I made this card for a "future" bride whose aunts were throwing her a shower and this, including a gift certificate from Yours Truly would be included. One of the bride's aunts is actually a close friend of mine and her mother knows that her sister/my friend loves to stamp and makes BEAUTIFUL cards herself, so she loves giving her the gift of Stampin' Up!

I initially knew I wanted the houses and the church since this was a bridal shower card, but I had no idea I would add the butterflies.  Once I added the Delicate Lace Edgelit to the top of my card it just seemed to scream butterflies.  What better way to add them but to get out my Botanical Butterfly DSP, which is a free SaleABration item (which goes away after today), my Stampin' Write Markers and my Butterfly Duet Punch which is included in the Butterfly Gala Bundle in our Occasions Catalog---page 35.

You can see a side view of my card here showing the tenting that is created with scoring.  So pretty!  Thank you for sharing this idea Mary Ellen Stites!  I love this card and I look forward to making many more using all my other lovely items I've found in our Occasions Catalog.
