Poinsettia Petals in Silver

How often have you thought and thought about how you wanted to do a card design and NOTHING came to mind…no matter how much time had passed? Sometimes the ideas come fast and furious and at other times I feel like I’m in a design drought. Arghhhh!

I knew which stamp sets I wanted to use. I knew I wanted my card to be elegant. That’s all I knew and yet NOTHING.

So, I said to myself, Tammie, just go start doing something and it will come. Guess what, that voice was absolutely correct. I started getting different elements out and in no time things started coming together.

This is my card and I’m in love! I’ve created this card for my first in-person Club party, since February. I’m taking all precautions that I know to keep my ladies safe. We’ll do distancing, hand sanitizer, cleaning, masking…whatever it takes to move on in this new way of doing things since the dreaded virus has seemingly tried to take over our world. The stamp I’m using is from Poinsettia Petals. I’m using the bundle because, why wouldn’t I?! The sentiment is really the only thing we’ll stamp, as I’m using the dies to cut and emboss the silver poinsettia.

In keeping with my desire to make this elegant, I used the Metallic Mesh Ribbon, Whisper White cardstock layered with Feels Like Frost DSP and Vellum and then accented with the Beaded Pearls, as well as some of our Basic Pearl elements.

I stamped in blue with Seaside Spray, and then added an inner sentiment with an additional stamp from For Unto Us.

The stitched rectangle dies were the perfect way to cut everything, bringing my theme of elegance to the forefront.

I appreciate your time in coming to my blog to check out my projects! Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. Have a great day!

Supplies

Stamps-Poinsettia Petals, For Unto Us

Card Stock-Thick Whisper White- 5 ½” X 8 ½”, 1 ¾” X 2 ¾” (unless you use the stitched rectangle die, then cut a little bigger)

-Vellum- 2 5/8” X 4” (unless you used the stitched rectangle die, then cut a little bigger)

Specialty Paper- Feel Like Frost DSP- 3 ¾” X 5 1/8” (if you’re using the stitched rectangle die, cut bigger and use the largest die)

-Silver Foil- 3 ½” X 3 ½”- use the largest petal die and coordinating embossing die and run through the machine together to cut poinsettia flower

Ink- Seaside Spray

Embellishments- Beaded Pearls (1) and Basic Pearls (3), Metallic Mesh Ribbon- 5”

Adhesives- Stampin’ Seal, Mini Glue Dots, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Multipurpose Glue

Layer your card elements without adhering them, yet. Adhere the DSP to the center of your card front using Stampin’ Seal. Then figure out the position where you want your poinsettia on your vellum piece. Then place your ribbon and adhere the poinsettia on top using a dimensional in the center of the flower. Once the flower is adhered to vellum, turn vellum over and place remaining dimensionals where the petals of the poinsettia will cover them. Now adhere the vellum piece to your DSP.

Stamp your card front sentiment on the piece of Whisper White and using the Multipurpose glue, apply the glue to the upper left corner of that piece and adhere it to the vellum.

Finish your card by adding your Beaded Pearl to your flower and the Basic Pearls as desired.

Add an inner sentiment, if you wish.

Cherish the Season in Granny Apple Green

What do you think about the color I used for these cards? It's Granny Apple Green. I liked this color when it came out a while ago, but I had no idea it would be my favorite green. The Shaded Spruce is a close second, but oh, how I love the bright crispness of Granny Apple. It pairs so well with the gold, too. So putting the Gold Hoop on my card made complete and total sense. At first I was imagining a wreath, but I guess with the influence of Beautiful World, another awesome stamp set I have, and the piece I used as a base for my "globe" from the dies, Sounds of the Season, that coordinate with the Cherish the Season stamp set,  I just had to make that globe.

The bells I used on my first card shown here are the Jingle Bells, that are another carry over from our  2019 Holiday Catalog. I cannot tell you how happy I am that Stampin' Up! made the decision to carry some of the coolest things from last catalog to this current Holiday Catalog. Such a great company I am a part of! I obviously used the gold bells, but there are also red and green bells in the mix.

The other stamps I used are from some other sets available in our Annual and our Holiday Catalog. DID I TELL YOU THIS CATALOG IS THE BEST HOLIDAY CATALOG EVER? Those sets are Itty Bitty Christmas and For Unto Us. The embossing folders I used for my cards are the Tasteful Textile and Old World Paper.

In my second card shown I stamped with Versamark on the Gold Foil and embossed in gold and then fussy cut the bells. How do you feel about fussy cutting? Some people hate it with a passion, but I actually LOVE it. Never did I think I would. It's tedious, time consuming and patience is a must. But to be honest with you, when I started doing it, fussing cutting all those pieces for my, then, Christmas cards in 2003, I found that I was able to relax and enjoy some much needed downtime from my career as an RN. And I still feel that way today.
If you like my cards, and have any questions about products, measurements or anything else, just contact me and I'll give you the scoop.
Have a great day!

Stampin' Cut & Emboss: Get to Know Your Machine

Cherish the Season Navy and Bumblebee

The mood this week is "do it differently". Yesterday I challenged myself to use Rococo Rose and today I felt Night of Navy and Bumblebee tugging at my creativity strings. I LOVE the bells in Cherish the Season and Christmas Means More is just WAY cool! Have you seen these sets? Check them out!
Today I colored my pearls with the Dark Navy Blend and then gave them a little Wink of Stella to make them shimmer. I absolutely love the inset blue holly leaves. To me it just seems to add so much more dimension!
Oh, and I definitely am so in love with my new die cutting machine that's completely new since September 1st. If you haven't seen it, check it out, too! REALLY NICE. Such a great improvement over our previous machine. Thanks, Stampin' Up! for your continued commitment to offer quality products!

Rococo Rose Christmas

Last year, as is an annual tradition, ©Stampin' Up! introduced five new 'In Colors', of which one is Rococo Rose. Although I love this shade of pink I just never found an occasion to use it. GASP! I know, right?! So I have challenged myself to make some cards using this beautiful color. I have just under a year before this color goes away (because as you may or may not know, In Colors stay for 2 years and then they're gone). I'm going to have a lot of card making to do, starting NOW!

The theme for my cards is Christmas because I also wanted to challenge myself to make some cards with non-traditional colors.

These are the three cards I've designed and I'm pretty happy with the color combinations and stamps I've chosen.

The components for the above card are the Christmas Gleaming and Christmas Means More stamps. I used the coordinating Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack. The inks I used are Rococo Rose, Smoky Slate and Basic Gray. I colored the ornament toppers with the Smoky Slate Blends and then punched holes in the hangers and attached a Linen Thread bow.  To get the strands that are "holding" the ornaments I used some Tear & Tape to secure the Linen Thread on the front and the back matted In Good Taste DSP. The baubles I used are retired Share What You Love Artisan Pearls, but you could easily color our Pearls with the Dark Rococo Rose Blend.

For this card I colored the holly and berries with the Rococo Rose and Granny Apple Green Blends and applied Wink of Stella to give some shimmer. I then fussy cut them and applied them to my card using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

This last card uses the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp and the coordinating Christmas Layers dies. The solid "snowflakes" are the pieces that are left after cutting the line flower piece.
