Quite Curvy

Quite Curvy Birthday Card

I originally saw this card on Facebook, posted by HM Studio. Fortunately she has a YouTube video so I was able to watch as she put her “Happy New Year” card together.Thank you, HM, for your creative talent.

I have used the Quite Curvy Variety bundle to create my card. This bundle is available through January 4, 2021, so be sure to head to my website to order your bundle before it’s too late!

I thought about adding pictures to these instructions, but have decided that the video will be a much better method to show you how to make your own pop-up birthday card, or whatever occasion you choose. So visit my YouTube channel, Tammie Rundle, and check it out. Comments are welcome. I hope you enjoy

Recipe

Cardstock:

·       Sahara Sand 4 ¼” X 11”-score @ 5 ½”; 4” X 4 ¼”; 3 ¼” X 5”-score at ½” along 3 ¼” top; 2 ½” X 4” scrap

·       Whisper White 4 ¼” X 12”-score at 4 ½”, 6” and 7 ½”; 4 ¼” X 11” (Thick White)

Designer Series Paper (DSP):

·       Classic Christmas-4 ¼” X 3 1/8”; 4” X 1 ¼”; 4” X 5 ¼” (all of these will use the same design)

                                             -4” X 1 ¼”; 4” X 4¼” (these will use the same design)

Stamp Sets:

Quite Curvy, So Sentimental Bundle (Stitched So Sweetly Dies)

Ink:

·       Ink Pad- Shaded Spruce, Memento Tuxedo Black

·       Stampin’ Blends- Seaside Spray combo, So Saffron combo

Embellishments:

·       All the Trimmings Ribbon Combo- Gold trimmed 1/8” Old Olive-10” (approx.). Tie bow, then cut from spool and trim

·       Gilded Gems

 Adhesives:

·       Tombow Multipurpose Glue

·       Mini Glue Dots

Tools:

·       Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine

·       Ruler

·       Scoring stylus

·       Pencil

·       Paper Trimmer

·       Paper Snips

·       Adhesive Remover or eraser

Instructions

1.     Cut and score all cardstock and DSP (designer series paper)

2.     Insert Whisper White cardstock into paper trimmer on the 6” score mark. Move cardstock to the 6 1/16” mark. Using cutting blade cut from ½” to 3 ¾” (go slowly!).

Move cardstock to the 5 15/16” mark. Again, cut from ½” to 3 ¾” mark (go slowly!)

Snip this segment out using Paper Snips.

3.     Now, to form the pop-up portion of the card, with pencil, mark 1” above the 7 ½” score mark and mark 1” below the same score mark. Put your mark right on the edge of your cardstock. Repeat this step on the other side of the card.

4.     Now, on the 7 ½” score line, mark 1” in from the edge of the cardstock.

5.     These 3 marks will form a triangle and now fold this triangle in so the top of your cardstock now has mitered corners.

6.     Glue the 4” X 5 ¼” DSP piece onto the Sahara Sand card front.

7.     Glue the 4” X 3 1/8” DSP to the 5” X 3 ¼” piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock. Apply glue to the 1/2” top of this piece and adhere to the inside of the Sahara Sand card base, just under the score line and centered with ½” on each side.

8.     Slide the Whisper White 4” X 12” piece of cardstock over this piece. Adhere the top and bottom of this piece to the Sahara Sand card base, keeping the pop-up piece free of adhesive.

9.     Adhere the DSP pieces to the top of the Whisper White cardstock.

10.  Using the 4” X ¼” piece of Sahara Sand cardstock, measure and lightly mark 1 1/8” on right and left of corners on top of cardstock. Then mark 1 1/8” down from the right and left corners. You’ll see a triangle formed with the marks. Cut this triangle on both the right and left sides of the top.

11.  Before adhering the Sahara Sand piece to the inside of card stamp sentiments and then glue to inside of card.

12.  At this point your card is ready for decorating. I stamped 3 sets of the 3 birds and the sentiment, Hello, onto thick Whisper White Cardstock. I colored them with Stampin’ Blends and used the Dies to cut the birds. I fussy cut the sentiment. I also cut a couple branches from a scrap of Sahara Sand cardstock. I decorated the inside top of the card with the leaf stamp using Shaded Spruce and then I cut them out with the coordinating dies.

13.  For the front of the card I used the So Sentimental Bundle and stamped in Shaded Spruce and then cut the sentiment out with a coordinating label die.

14.  Lastly, I tied a bow and adhered it using a glue dot and added some gilded gems for interest.

Poinsettia Petals Cards Two Ways

Is there anyone out there that doesn't like poinsettias? For me, they're a Christmas tradition that continue to enamour me year after year. When I saw that Stampin' Up! had created a Poinsettia Petals Bundle for this holiday season I was so excited! As you saw in my previous post I used this set and here it is again!

The opportunity to bring these beautiful plants to life is just magical. To do them justice is a challenge that I love to take on and I am very happy with my cards I'll show today.

This first card has my poinsettia made using Foil Sheets and the second card I stamped in Cherry Cobbler and then used my Water Painter to colorize the leaves/flowers.

I layered my poinsettias on a background of the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper.

I used Cherry Cobbler cardstock to cut the berries and red rhinestones to add a pop of color to my card as well as to make the center flower for my poinsettia.

I needed some bling for my second card so I used my retired red glimmer paper and then I grabbed the upcoming Heat and Stick Powder to adhere my Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to my poinsettia petals.
Thanks for visiting today and let me know if there is a particular stamp set or embellishment you would like to see and I'm happy to delve into a project just for you!
Happy Holidays!

From Mayhem to Beauty with Poinsettia Petals

So I had this "stuff" and I wasn't quite sure what to do with it all. I had scraps of card stock, stamps and their coordinating dies, inks, etc.

One of the things I've learned that is actually exciting and fulfilling, is to take the unknown and see where it leads. In this case, I took all of my parts and pieces and started to create.

As I worked through the color combinations and the "clutter" on my desk my vision became clearer and clearer on where this project was going. And oh my gosh, I used some things that I've had in my "use this before you put it away" drawer. How exciting!!!! I had ordered the Ornate Frames dies a while ago and as life would have it, I just had never put them to use. GASP! NO!! But today it happened and as much as I loved them in the catalog, I am totally in love with them now.

Without further chatter, please see my creation below. I love, love, love how it turned out. I hope you do, too.

In making this card I wanted to add some frost to my poinsettia petals. As luck would have it, in the upcoming Spring Catalog an old favorite of mine is returning which made this task completely, and easily, possible. We used to have an adhesive called Heat and Stick Powder, which has been missing from our stamping arsenal for about 3 years. However, IT'S COMING BACK! This powder is used with Versamark Ink and when melted onto the Versamark with the Heat Tool, it becomes very tachy. It's an excellent way to use our Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (or any glitter, for that matter) to get it to stick to our projects.

I'll post the link to this project on my Stampin' Up! website so you can see all the ingredients I used. With that being said, the Heat and Stick Powder will go live on January 5th with the new Spring Catalog, so message me at that point and I'll get that item number to you.

Full disclosure, the glittery berries are made using retired glimmer paper and the red glitter dots are retired, also, but just do what I did...look in your arsenal and pull out your stuff that will work in their place.

Happy Stamping!!
